AIM is the first 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area that provides integrative medicine services to low-income and terminally ill patients regardless of ability to pay.
Integrative medicine combines conventional medical care with complementary medicine. Its goal is to improve patient care, and to address not only biological, but also psychological, social and spiritual aspects of health and illness. Integrative medicine treats the whole person, not just the symptoms of disease.
“Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity” – Preamble to the Constitution of the World Health Organization
Supported by grants and donations, AIM Health Institute works to achieve the following:
- Provide integrative medical care for underserved, low-income populations and terminally ill patients, regardless of ability to pay;
- Educate the public and healthcare professionals on integrative medicine;
- Empower the public by providing self-care tools;
- Provide training and practice opportunities in integrative medicine to medical students and integrative medicine practitioners;
