INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE

Integrative Medicine (IM) considers the whole person when addressing health concerns. It is healing-oriented medicine which recognizes the role of lifestyle and environmental factors in health.  IM offers many healing tools and modalities, often times used in conjunction with each other and conventional medicine, to achieve optimal health.  It is evidence based, and uniquely emphasizes the importance of the doctor-patient relationship.

OSTEOPATHY

Osteopathic medical practice emphasizes treatment through the use of manipulation, myofascial release, and adjustments of bones, joints, and muscles.

NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE

Naturopathic medicine is a primary health care profession centered on prevention, treatment, and the use of therapeutic methods that encourage an individual’s inherent self-healing process.  A holistic assessment, including emotional and physical factors, helps practitioners target the root cause of individual conditions. Modalities include functional medicine and other modern, traditional, scientific and empirical methods.

ACUPUNCTURE AND ACUPRESSURE

Acupuncture, derived from ancient Chinese medicine, involves the insertion of fine needles at specific locations on the body for therapeutic or preventative purposes.  Acupuncture is used in treating musculoskeletal and chronic pain conditions.  In addition, it can help with headaches/migraines, insomnia, anxiety and other diagnosed conditions.

Acupressure, also derived from ancient Chinese medicine is a body technique based on the principles of acupuncture.   Rather than using needles, acupressure involves the application of pressure to specific points on the body to control symptoms in similar condition.

SHARED MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS

AIM Health Institute provides Shared Medical Appointments (SMAs) as a means of empowering patients in self-care techniques within groups.  While patients will have access to individual consultations within group appointments, licensed and credentialed practitioners will lead techniques in self care once weekly over a span of 8-12 weeks.  These include mindfulness, acupressure, yoga, tai chi, nutrition, and art therapy.  Common conditions for SMAs include, but are not limited to, insomnia, depression, anxiety, hypertension, and diabetes.
